Rend Lake excited to sign McMahan

Aiden McMahan joined the Missouri Bulls last summer.  He went to Shawnee HS with Adam Pennington who played for the Bulls.  Just so happens Adam's brother Todd is the head coach for the Bulls 17u team. Todd has been coaching with the Bulls for 3 years and had been pushing McMahon to join the Bulls.  The move paid off for McMahon as he signed to play last week with Rend Lake College after he graduates from Shawnee HS in May.

"I had a blast playing for coach Pennington and the Bulls," said McMahan.  "We played in some great tournaments in front of many college coaches.  I'm hoping to play in some tournaments this summer to stay sharp before I head to Rend Lake."

"Aiden is a kid we've had our eye on for some time," said Rend Lake head coach Tony Etnier. "It wasn't until we saw him play in Decatur, Illinois last summer with the Bulls that we knew what he could really do.  There's a chance he could play both ways for us as he is solid behind the plate and very good on the mound.  His bat from the left side has gap power and we think he still has some upside in areas with some work."

McMahan played well for the Bulls last summer as he was one of their top arms, their #1 catcher and a very good outfielder who batted over .350.

"He was a very versatile player for us," said Pennington.  "We're just glad he has decided to play for us some this summer.  He is a very tough kid to replace and we'll really need his leadership in 2014."

McMahan had a solid summer for the Bulls.  He batted .361 which was 3rd highest on the team.  He led the team in doubles (10) and triples (4).  He had an OB % of .420 and only struck out 6 times in 98 plate appearances.

"I'm just glad the decision is made and I can enjoy my final year at Shawnee," said McMahan.
