Steve Beiser/Tony Etnier to speak at meeting

The Lids Missouri Bulls announce their speakers for their annual player/parent meeting.

Steve Beiser, head coach at Southeast Missouri State and Tony Etnier, head coach at Rend Lake College in Illinois.

Coach Beiser is starting his second season as head coach of the Redhawks after being an assistant for 2 seasons there.  Beiser is a native of Ste. Genevieve, Mo. and came to Southeast after a very successful career as head coach at St. John Vianney HS in St. Louis where his team won two state championships, 2004 and 2006.

Bieser graduated from Southeast in 1989 and was selected in the 32nd round of the MLB Draft by the Philadelphia Phillies.  He made his major league debut on April1, 1997 with the NY Mets.

Coach Tony Etnier is entering his 8th season as head coach at Rend Lake.  In his first 7 seasons his team has compiled a record of 102-174.  They were Region 24 Champs in 2008 and he was named Coach of the Year.

He has had 7 players taken in the MLB draft but his biggest accomplishment is that he has had over 60 players move on to play at 4 year schools during his tenure.

Etnier started his college career at Olney Central College (2 years), then played one year for Lindsey Wilson College and finished up his career at Blackburn College where he set school records in 2001-02 for innings pitched and strikeouts.

Etnier played professionally for the Cook County Cheetahs of the Frontier League in 2002.

He was an assistant at SIU-Carbondale for 2 years and at Blackburn College for 2 years before taking the head coaching position at Rend Lake.

"We're happy that these 2 successful coaches are able to come to our metting and share their experiences and give some advice to our young men and their parents," said Mitch Wood, director of player development for the Bulls.

The Lids Missouri Bulls start their 6th season in 2014.  "We haven't been around very long as an organization but we are very proud of what we have accomplished thus far", said Glenn Campbell executive director of the Bulls.  "Our goal is to give players a chance to showcase their talents in front of college coaches and have a chance to play at the next level. To have 30 players in four graduating seasons be able to sign college scholarships pretty much speaks for itself."

The Bulls will sell merchandise starting at noon on January 12th at the Oran HS gymnasium and the meeting will start promptly at 1pm.
